Lofts at 136
Adaptive Reuse
Built in 1910, the building at 136 N Division Street in downtown Buffalo was home to the Alling & Cory company and used as a paper warehouse. Now, on the building’s 100 year anniversary, it is reopened as a 290-bed, state of the art student housing facility, the Lofts at 136.
Renovations to the six-story, brick building took about 12 months to complete. The project took advantage of state and federal historic tax credits, as well as tax breaks under the Erie County Industrial Development Agency’s Pilot program.
The facility is made up of three different apartment layouts: 4 bdrm/4 person units, 2 bdrm/4 person units, and a studio single. All apartments come fully furnished, with a comprehensive kitchen and a bathroom for every 2 people.
